The rules for participating in our events and programs.
These terms and conditions outline the rules and responsibilities that apply when you register for our events, join our programs, or use our services. Please review them carefully before participating.
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Buku Events ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the buku.events website and all related services, including tournament registration, event participation, and associated activities (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using our Services, registering for tournaments, or participating in Buku Events activities, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use our Services.
If you are registering or participating on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of such minor and you agree to these Terms on their behalf.
2. Eligibility and Account Registration
2.1 Eligibility Requirements
To use our Services, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age to register and create an account
- Have the legal authority to enter into binding contracts
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Not be prohibited from using our Services under applicable laws
Parents or legal guardians must register on behalf of minors participating in tournaments.
2.2 Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Ensuring all information provided is accurate and up-to-date
- Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
You may not:
- Share your account credentials with others
- Create multiple accounts for the same individual or team
- Use another person's account without permission
- Create accounts using false or misleading information
2.3 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if:
- You violate these Terms or any of our policies
- You engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
- You provide false or misleading information
- Your conduct is harmful to other users or the Company
- We discontinue the Services or specific features
3. Tournament Registration and Participation
3.1 Registration Process
Tournament registration requires:
- Completion of the online registration form through LeagueApps
- Payment of all applicable registration fees
- Submission of required documentation (rosters, waivers, medical releases, proof of insurance)
- Acceptance of all tournament-specific rules and policies
- Verification of player eligibility and age requirements
Registration is not complete until full payment is received and confirmed.
3.2 Registration Fees
- All fees are listed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise specified
- Fees are non-refundable except as outlined in our Refund Policy
- We reserve the right to change fees for future tournaments
- Additional fees may apply for late registration, roster changes, or optional services (e.g., weather insurance)
3.3 Team and Player Eligibility
Teams and players must:
- Meet age requirements for their registered division
- Comply with all league, organization, and sanctioning body rules
- Provide accurate roster information and required documentation
- Have appropriate insurance coverage
- Not be suspended or banned from participation
We reserve the right to:
- Verify player eligibility and age at any time
- Request documentation including birth certificates and player cards
- Disqualify teams or players who do not meet requirements
- Forfeit games for eligibility violations
3.4 Participation Requirements
By participating in our tournaments, you agree to:
- Follow all tournament rules and policies, including our General Event Policy, Refund Policy, and Weather Policy
- Comply with facility rules and regulations
- Respect referees, tournament staff, opponents, and spectators
- Adhere to our Code of Conduct and sportsmanship standards
- Accept decisions made by tournament officials
4. Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability
Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risk
By participating in or attending any event, program, or activity organized by Buku Events LLC (“Buku Events”), I acknowledge and fully understand that participation in lacrosse and related athletic activities involves inherent risks, hazards, and dangers that could result in serious injury, illness, or death. These risks include, but are not limited to:
- Collisions with other players, officials, or field structures
- Impacts from errant lacrosse balls, sticks, or equipment
- Overexertion, dehydration, or physical strain during play
- Adverse weather conditions including heat, lightning, or poor air quality
- Uneven field surfaces or facility hazards
- Equipment malfunction, improper use, or inadequate safety gear
- Exposure to communicable diseases, including COVID-19 and other infections
- Accidents or injuries during travel to and from event venues
I understand that while Buku Events takes reasonable measures to promote safety—including providing certified athletic trainers, enforcing rules, and inspecting facilities—it cannot eliminate all risk inherent in athletic competition or spectator environments.
I voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks, both known and unknown, associated with participation in Buku Events activities, including those arising from the negligence of Buku Events or others.
Release, Waiver, and Hold Harmless Agreement
In consideration of being allowed to participate in or attend a Buku Events activity, I, on behalf of myself, my family, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless:
Buku Events LLC, its owners, officers, directors, employees, agents, volunteers, facility partners, sponsors, and affiliates
from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, illness, or death that may occur while participating in, observing, or traveling to/from any Buku Events activity, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, including injuries from errant lacrosse balls or contact with equipment.
I further agree to indemnify and defend Buku Events LLC and its representatives against any claim arising from my own actions, negligence, or violation of event rules.
Medical Authorization
I hereby authorize Buku Events medical staff, athletic trainers, or emergency personnel to provide or arrange medical care as deemed necessary for my safety or the safety of a participant under my care. I understand that I am financially responsible for all medical treatment provided.
Conduct and Compliance
All participants, coaches, and spectators are expected to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship and abide by Buku Events’ rules, regulations, and safety protocols. Buku Events reserves the right to remove any participant, team, or attendee for unsafe, unsportsmanlike, or inappropriate behavior without refund.
Media Release
I grant Buku Events LLC permission to use photographs, videos, or recordings of me (or my child) participating in event activities for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes, without compensation.
Parent/Guardian Consent (For Participants Under 18)
As the parent or legal guardian of the minor named below, I acknowledge that I have read and fully understand this Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability. I consent to my child’s participation in Buku Events activities and agree to be bound by all terms herein on behalf of myself and the minor participant.
Binding Effect
This waiver applies to all members of the undersigned’s party, including family members, teammates, coaches, and guests associated with the registered participant or team, and is binding on their heirs, successors, and assigns.
5. Medical and Emergency Authorization
5.1 Medical Information
By registering, you:
- Authorize the collection and use of medical information as necessary for tournament participation
- Confirm that all participants are physically able to participate in lacrosse activities
- Agree to disclose any medical conditions that may affect participation
- Assume responsibility for determining fitness to participate
5.2 Medical Treatment Authorization
In the event of a medical emergency, you authorize Buku Events staff to:
- Call emergency medical services (911)
- Provide basic first aid and emergency care
- Arrange transportation to medical facilities
- Make necessary decisions regarding emergency medical treatment if you cannot be contacted
You agree to be financially responsible for all medical expenses incurred.
5.3 Concussion Protocol
You acknowledge and agree to comply with our concussion protocol, which may require:
- Immediate removal from play if a concussion is suspected
- Medical evaluation before returning to play
- Written clearance from a licensed healthcare provider
6. Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Actions
6.1 Acceptable Behavior
All users must:
- Treat others with respect and dignity
- Use appropriate language and behavior
- Follow all rules and instructions from tournament officials
- Promote sportsmanship and fair play
- Respect facility property and equipment
6.2 Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Verbal or physical abuse, harassment, or intimidation
- Discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic
- Violence, threats of violence, or threatening behavior
- Use of profanity directed at others
- Unsportsmanlike conduct
- Cheating, fraud, or misrepresentation
- Destruction of property
- Possession or use of weapons, illegal drugs, or excessive alcohol
- Any conduct that disrupts the tournament or endangers others
6.3 Disciplinary Actions
Violations may result in:
- Warnings from tournament officials
- Ejection from games or facilities
- Suspension from current or future tournaments
- Forfeiture of games and registration fees
- Ban from all Buku Events tournaments
- Referral to law enforcement or governing bodies
We reserve the right to take any action we deem appropriate to maintain a safe and positive environment.
7. Intellectual Property Rights
7.1 Our Intellectual Property
All content on the Buku Events website and Services, including but not limited to:
- Logos, trademarks, and service marks
- Text, graphics, images, and photographs
- Software, code, and functionality
- Tournament formats, rules, and materials
- Design and layout of the website
are the property of Buku Events or our licensors and are protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 Limited License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use our Services for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Modify, copy, distribute, or reproduce any content without written permission
- Use our trademarks, logos, or branding without authorization
- Create derivative works based on our content
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access our Services
7.3 User-Generated Content
If you submit content to our Services (reviews, comments, photos, videos), you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such content for any purpose related to our Services.
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have the necessary rights to any content you submit
- Your content does not violate any third-party rights
- Your content complies with these Terms and applicable laws
8. Photography, Video, and Media Release
8.1 Media Capture
Buku Events may photograph, video record, or livestream tournament games and activities. By participating, you grant us permission to:
- Capture your image, likeness, and voice
- Use such media for promotional, marketing, and educational purposes
- Publish media on our website, social media, and marketing materials
- Share media with media outlets and sponsors
8.2 Opt-Out
If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, you must notify us in writing prior to the tournament. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request, but cannot guarantee that you will not appear in group photos or videos.
8.3 No Compensation
You acknowledge that you will receive no compensation for the use of your image or likeness and waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product.
9. Refunds and Cancellations
All refunds and cancellations are governed by our separate Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review the Refund Policy carefully before registering.

- Limited refund policy due to pre-planning requirements
- Specific conditions for medical withdrawals, player conflicts, and cancellations
- Weather insurance available for purchase
- No refunds once tournament begins (subject to exceptions in Refund Policy)
10. Weather-Related Modifications
All weather-related modifications, cancellations, and safety protocols are governed by our separate Weather Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

- Tournament may be modified due to weather conditions
- Lightning safety protocol strictly enforced
- No refunds for weather modifications once tournament begins (unless weather insurance purchased)
- Facility owners have final authority on field conditions
11. Third-Party Services and Links
11.1 Third-Party Platforms
Our Services integrate with third-party platforms including:
- LeagueApps for registration and payment processing
- Tourney Machine for scheduling and communications
- Payment processors for financial transactions
Your use of these platforms is subject to their respective terms and conditions and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices, content, or services of these third parties.
11.2 External Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse, control, or assume responsibility for the content, products, services, or practices of third-party websites.
12. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
12.1 "AS IS" Disclaimer
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Warranties of MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT
- Warranties REGARDING SECURITY, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR AVAILABILITY
- WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE
We do not warrant that:
- The Services will meet your requirements or expectations
- The Services will be available at all times or without interruption
- Any content or information will be accurate, complete, or current
- Defects or errors will be corrected
12.2 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUKU EVENTS AND THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:
- INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
- LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE
- PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE (EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY LAW)
- DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
These limitations apply even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages and regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
13. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
13.1 Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising from or related to the Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
13.2 Informal Resolution
Before filing any legal claim, you agree to first contact us at info@bukulax.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will attempt to resolve the dispute through good faith negotiations for at least thirty (30) days.
13.3 Arbitration Agreement
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules.
The arbitration shall be conducted in Orange County, California unless otherwise agreed. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding, and judgment may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY AGREEING TO ARBITRATION, YOU ARE WAIVING YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION.
13.4 Exceptions to Arbitration
Notwithstanding the above, either party may:
- Seek injunctive or equitable relief in court for intellectual property infringement
- Bring claims in small claims court if they qualify
- Seek enforcement of an arbitration award in court
13.5 Class Action Waiver
YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS SHALL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION.
13.6 Venue and Jurisdiction
If arbitration does not apply, you agree that any legal action shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
14. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Acts of God (earthquakes, floods, fires, storms, hurricanes)
- Pandemics or public health emergencies
- War, terrorism, or civil unrest
- Government actions or restrictions
- Labor disputes or strikes
- Utility failures or telecommunications outages
- Severe weather conditions
- Facility unavailability or damage
In the event of force majeure, we may cancel, postpone, or modify tournaments as necessary, subject to our Refund Policy and Weather Policy.
15. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
- Post the revised Terms on our website
- Provide notice of material changes via email or prominent website notice
Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Services and may be entitled to a refund according to our Refund Policy.
We encourage you to review these Terms periodically for any updates.
16. Severability and Waiver
16.1 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
16.2 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. No waiver of any term shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or any other term.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookies Policy, Refund Policy, Weather Policy, and General Event Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Buku Events regarding the Services and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications, whether written or oral.
18. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights and obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction. Any attempted assignment in violation of this section shall be void.
19. Survival
Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including but not limited to: Assumption of Risk, Release and Waiver, Indemnification, Intellectual Property Rights, Disclaimers, Limitations of Liability, Dispute Resolution, and Governing Law.
